“Brückenschlag” - Bridging the gap: From competition to local pop-up

For the 4th of July the team "Brückenschlag" invited candidates who might be willing to try out the pop-up here in Stuttgart. So far, eight young people who have only heard about this project through word of mouth, which aims to bring jobseekers and companies closer together. They all are in need of contact to companies that could offer them an internship, a master's thesis, an apprenticeship or even a job. The guests learned that "Brückenschlag" relies on the personal encounter. Anyone looking for contact with companies and supporting the project should be present when the pavilion is set up.

It is now clear that on Monday the 30th of July the popup on the STEP-Campus at the entrance to the cafeteria building (Wankelstraße 10) will be established and the candidates should be present between 11am and 2pm. The team of "Brückenschlag" will be on site. Until then, the companies around the campus must be informed, for the best possible awareness and contact opportunities. For them who are looking for contact in areas such as architecture, engineering and office, STEP is the right environment.

Background: A former Transsolar Academy Fellow staged a competition in spring 2018 and encouraged more colleagues, including the entire Academy this year, to participate in the Design & Policy Competition: "Place & Displacement Competition 2018: Integrating Refugee Population within Cities" Their proposal was given the name "Brückenschlag". At the end of March they come to know that they won with their concept. The team does not want to rest on its laurels, it faces the manifold challenges of putting the idea of theory into practice and testing it on the ground.

But the wealth of experience gained until now is already a profit. And there is also the hope that the concept will catch on, spin off and become independent from the company, which is slightly different from others, because it also allows exotic developments like this project in its premises, even though the core business is KlimaEngineering.
