Showcasing Technology in the Spain's Andalusian Desert

Guardian Glass and OFIS Architects wanted to build a glasshouse, which would serve as a technology showcase, in Spain's Andalusian desert. The 20 m² fully glazed studio space sits upon a wooden base.
The temperatures in the Gorafe Desert fall below 0 ° C in the winter and rise to 40 ° C in the summer. Traditionally, dwellings have been partially buried in the ground to help maintain comfortable indoor conditions. A comfortable fully glazed home with minimal energy consumption was the design goal. Transsolar was asked to join the design team as the climate engineer.
