Christian Frenzel | next: earth 2026 Symposium | Rammed Earth: A Material of the Future

On April 29, 2026, next:earth in Pfeffenhausen will showcase how rammed earth is redefining construction from the ground up.

Our project manager, Christian Frenzels, will speak on “Energy Efficiency Through Architecture – Natural Materials as Part of the Building Concept” at 1:30 p.m.:
As a mechanical engineer with nearly 19 years of experience, Christian combines technical precision with creative curiosity. His focus is on energy-efficient, comfort-oriented building concepts through low-tech strategies, natural ventilation, and material-efficient solutions. Another focus of his work is on hygrothermal comfort and the potential of rammed earth as an innovative building material.

Clay is back: more modern, efficient, and future-ready than ever. From load-bearing walls and sustainable ceiling systems to visionary architectural concepts, clay has the potential to become a key material for sustainable, future-oriented construction—both technically and ecologically. The event highlights which innovations from research and practice are already possible today and how architects and engineers are paving the way for large-scale application. From current research findings and innovative construction methods to concrete projects, it becomes clear just how much creative, technical, and ecological potential lies in clay as a building material.
