Darmstadt, Germany: The new Alnatura office is now open.
The organic market chain Alnatura has built its new company headquarters on a former military site. The new three-storey building designed by HaasCookZemmrich is currently Europe's largest office building with a rammed earth façade; it is high-performant, energy-efficient and with optimised interior comfort and made of recyclable or natural materials. The new building is divided into the office, conference and restaurant areas. Right from the planning stage, care is taken to ensure that passive measures keep the cost of technical equipment as low as possible. The building is ventilated in a natural way, heat and cold are supplied geothermally via geothermal probes; photovoltaics on the roof generate electrical energy. The grey energy of the new building was also scientifically evaluated. The DGNB certification "PLATIN" is targeted.
