Weleda Cradle Campus receives Hugo Häring Award 2026

We are pleased that the Weleda Cradle Campus in Schwäbisch Gmünd has been awarded the Hugo Häring Award by the BDA Baden-Württemberg, recognizing exemplary architecture that combines design quality, innovation and sustainability.

Transsolar developed the energy and climate concept for the campus, supporting Weleda’s ambition to create a climate-positive logistics facility based on circular design principles. The concept combines geothermal heating and cooling, extensive roof- and façade-integrated photovoltaics, and the thermal and hygric performance of rammed-earth construction. Locally excavated material was reused to create 8-metre-high rammed-earth walls, providing passive temperature and humidity regulation while significantly reducing embodied carbon.

The project integrates administration, operations, and logistics within a predominantly timber-built campus designed for resource efficiency, workplace quality, and long-term adaptability. Native landscaping, orchard meadows, and comprehensive water management strategies further enhance biodiversity and site resilience.

The award acknowledges the project’s holistic integration of architecture, environmental performance, and circular construction, and qualifies the Weleda Cradle Campus for the Hugo Häring Landespreis in 2027.
