Welcome to the New York Team, Thomas Bamber!

We are thrilled to welcome Thomas Bamber to our team in New York. Thomas arrives at Transsolar after seven years in Vancouver, BC, and six in London, UK. He brings considerable experience to the team and shares our huge appetite for innovation. In Vancouver he founded a team called ‘Air + Light’ which promoted the benefits of a passive-first approach and provided the required expertise to local projects. He lectured and taught extensively to architects, engineers, stakeholders and faculty teams on health and efficiency in buildings.

Thomas has designed and completed over a dozen projects internationally which have functional passive systems. He regularly visits completed projects to gain insights into the user experience that can benefit future projects. At the Ortus Learning Centre in London, whose teaching spaces rely solely on passive ventilation and passive cooling, users reported that the building remained comfortable to use during the unprecedented 2019 heat wave in London. Thomas was closely involved in the design and post-occupancy evaluation of Clayton Community Centre in Greater Vancouver, which was Canada’s largest Passive House Building at the time of completion in 2021, and which features a hybrid active and passive ventilation system. He has contributed to several high-profile Passive House projects across North America and has shared his experience widely at North American conferences.

We are excited for the growth he brings to our talented (and quirky!) team and look forward to sharing his passion for occupant-driven design and innovation and his unique storytelling of complex issues.
