Atelier Monika Sosnowska, Warsaw, Poland
During schematic planning, Transsolar developed a sustainability concept for the Sosnowska Altelier in Warsaw. The basic building characteristics proposed include a careful design of the building envelope. The south façade is opaque and fully glazed to let in plenty of light and has a heated bench. The north façade is transparent and fully glazed. The solar gains of the south façade are controlled by movable, ventilated, highly reflective internal blinds with a low-E coating towards the room.
External and internal heat gains are dissipated by cross-ventilation, supported by an exhaust fan.
The radiant floor provides heat at low temperatures with the energy supplied by a geothermal heat pump system. The high visual comfort can be optimized with artificial light.
