In the cooperative workshop process for sub-area A3 of the new Rosenstein district in Stuttgart, the concept developed by our team in collaboration with HaasCookZemmrich Studio 2050 and Henning Larsen was awarded first prize.
The starting point of the design is the conceptual proposal ROSA, which builds on previously established urban planning guidelines and further develops insights from site analyses and a mid-term workshop. The design continues to pursue the qualities set out in the competition entries and responds specifically to the site’s urban and climatic challenges, including the spatial gap and level difference between the train station roof and the access level.
Transsolar’s contribution focused primarily on the climatic quality of the outdoor spaces. The open space becomes the defining element of the new city block – structuring the district, enhancing comfort and usability, and providing the framework for the long-term development of the area.
All four concepts developed in the cooperative workshop process are on display until April 12th, 2026 in the Stuttgart Rosenstein exhibition space (Eichstraße 9, Stuttgart). The special exhibition on the “Labor für die Zukunft” is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 12:30 pm to 6:00 pm.
