Lecture Series “Wir bauen auf …” | Clay in Timber Construction – Feuerbach Parish Hall

Time-tested and more relevant than ever: clay is returning to construction sites and, combined with contemporary timber building concepts, is emerging as a true building material for the future.

On May 5, the lecture series “Wir bauen auf …” at the Feuerbach's parish hall enters its second round. This time, the focus is on clay as a sustainable building material with remarkable design and structural versatility.

At the IBA project Evangelisches Gemeindehaus Stuttgart-Feuerbach, clay and timber play a central role. Against this backdrop, Björn Klug, clay construction consultant and host of the LehmBauTreff, will demonstrate how clay can be used today in an intelligent, material-appropriate, and architecturally ambitious way within timber construction. His talk addresses questions that go far beyond specialist audiences:
How are contemporary clay constructions developed? Which standards and technical requirements shape current practice? And what architectural potential does this open up?

Following the lecture, a panel discussion moderated by Christian Frenzel will bring together speakers and audience members to explore the opportunities and challenges of building with clay — with a focus on planning, construction, and building culture.

Accompanying the event, a material exhibition invites visitors to experience clay with all their senses and continue the discussion in an informal setting.
