Inauguration of Building A at the Hitachi Columbus Campus in Mannheim

At the end of April, Transsolarians attended the inauguration of Building A at the Hitachi Columbus Campus in Mannheim. Together with project partners and the architectural team from AllesWirdGut, an important milestone for the campus development was celebrated.

Building A is part of the Hitachi Columbus Campus on the FRANKLIN site and was designed with the clear objective of achieving climate‑neutral operation. The building deliberately does not make use of the maximum permitted height, allowing for the creation of an expansive roof garden with an intensively planted pergola that integrates photovoltaic panels. In addition to on‑site energy generation, the roof area provides usable outdoor space and contributes to summer thermal comfort.

Transsolar developed the holistic climate and energy concept for Building A (together with Building B). The concept focuses on reducing loads, using local resources, and achieving high system efficiency, with the explicit goal of generating at least as much renewable energy on site as required for building operation.
